Identity as a process
The collection entitled 'Biomorphic Echoes' presents a visual investigation focused on the dematerialisation of the recognisable image. The collection explores the possibility of representing the living without resorting to traditional naturalistic codes, the result being an ambiguous iconographic repertoire, a constellation of symbols suspended between dream, wakefulness and imagination. Each figure seems to emerge from a mist of organic forms where the human, the vegetal and the animal share the same morphological origin. The reticulated mist evokes chaos and represents the territory of uncertainty, diffuse memory and intermediate states of consciousness. The figures never appear fully defined; they are beings in permanent transformation. The series shares with biomorphic abstraction the use of organic forms that evoke living organisms without describing them literally. It also enters into dialogue with Surrealism through its interest in dreamlike images and the unconscious.
