HYBRID BEASTS
Photo collection
This collection of sculptures is exceptionally situated in this section, as ceramics and glass are present in a minority, with metallic qualities predominating.
Conceptually, it is inspired by Iberian mythology, but with results that emerge from artificial intelligence, not historiography. Fantastic animals have played a crucial symbolic role in the history of art, religion, and philosophy, representing natural forces, universal values, and cosmic principles. From the hybrid beasts of ancient mythologies to the imaginary beings in medieval bestiaries, these creatures not only reflect essential aspects of the human being (such as their fears, aspirations, or values), but also act as bridges between the tangible and the imaginary, helping to explore deeper dimensions of human existence. By presenting these beings in a current context, the museum reinterprets ancient narratives in an innovative way and can be related to fantasy literature and cinema, as well as other contemporary representations.
